Syd City VS Steel City
Matt Chilby
Wed 27 Jan - Sun 7 Feb 2010
Opening Fri 29 Jan, 7pm
"In this exhibition I will be displaying some of the photographs that I have taken from around Wollongong and Sydney. I have tried to capture things that I find to be iconic and unique to these two areas and display them in competition with each other - 'Syd City VS Steel City'.
Photography is a creative way for me to express myself. It lets me explore places while trying to capture that right moment, colour and feeling of a place that I might not have ever explored if I wasn't doing photography. I love some of the places it takes me and the way that it forces me look at those places from a different perspective, from the beautifully stunning to the dirty, dark & gritty......"

These are oil paintings are of landscapes we can all walk, ride, swim or just relax. Wax or sand is often added to the paint for the earthy natural texture. The “Shuttle” is a wonderful free bus circling Wollongong. “Shuttle” also denotes separate rooms for those disputing legal problems. The sculpture is painted like clouds in the sky to represent freedom.
