Project Contemporary Artspace

ZeitBytes is an exhibition by Illawarra artists, where modern digital techniques have played a major part in the creation of the exhibited artworks. In the show are printed digital images, video and animation works, and also algorithmically created music-as-light/light-as-music works.

The title of the show is a play on the German word “Zeitgeist”, which translates roughly as the “spirit of the time/age”. Our message is that digitally based art may use a different set of tools, but that creativity is medium independent, and the results of digitally created or originated art, is the equal of any of the traditional fine arts and, perhaps in the 21st century, more relevant to the current way of life of modern societies.

All the artists are members of The Illawarra Digital Arts Collective, which is loosely centred around our website which aims to exhibit and promote the aims of Digital Arts in general and local digital artists more particularly. The website provides free space for digital artists to display their works and personal information. We welcome new artists to be part of the web collective, as long as their exhibited works are are primarily created using digital techniques.
